Speaker 0: Good morning, Northern Michigan. This is your cup of Traverse City for the 03/30/2026. I'm Mike, and I need to apologize for the impromptu week off. But I'm back, So let's get to the news. Traverse City is very blessed.
For those of us that like good burgers, we have lots of good burger places, and, one of them is Bergstrom's burgers. Tim Bergstrom Bergstrom started it a while back, and he's, now got some health problems. He's going through some pretty intense cancer treatment. But on Saturday, April 11, one of his competitors, Oakwood Proper Burgers, is doing a fundraiser. The goal is sell a thousand burgers in a single day on April 11, and it's, it's pretty cool.
You know? You get a a competitor that, that's gonna try to help out. So they, we're gonna donate all the proceeds, from the event to, Bergstrom's family for medical expenses and recovery costs. Oakwood will open its doors on East 8th Street at 8AM, April 11, and keep the challenge going all day until 10PM. So you want a a burger?
Get down to Oakwood Proper Burgers right there on, 8th Street. It's kind of a goofy little building, and I know a little bit of history about that goofy little building because I received my first haircut in that building. Used to be Bill's Barber Shop, and and then in the back half of the building was was a beauty salon. So, that's it's been a couple things. It was a barbecue place for a while, and, then Oakwood moved in there.
I've not been to Oakwood a whole lot. I did one time and it was pretty good, but I'm sure, you know, that was when they first opened. So might be, might be out outstanding. I don't know. I'm gonna find out on April 11 because I will definitely go down there and grab a couple burgers, to help out Tim Bergstrom Bergstrom.
Anyway but, yeah, it's quite the quite the, the thing when, competitors like that can can come together. You know, we've got a couple quite a few other really good burger places in town. Of course, Don's driving. Everybody knows Don's. And and we got, Slabtown Burgers, which, Jeff just recently sold to another restaurant group, another local group.
So congratulations for to Jeff there for, getting to retire. And, then there's Bubba's, downtown. Firefly makes a good burger too. Not their specialty, but really good. You know, go out to Glen Arbor.
You got arts and, and empire. You got, Joe's Friendly Tavern. So, you know, we're we've got a lot of decent burgers around here. So, get out and enjoy a burger. But on the April 11 and I'll remind you.
April 11 on Saturday, get over to, 8th Street to, Oakwood proper burgers and, Have a Burger. Let's see. Weather today. Mostly sunny. High near 56.
Calm wind becoming north around five miles per hour, a perfect day to move an airplane. I I won't go into it. Today, a chance of showers and thunderstorms before 2AM and then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between two and five. So I guess might have a little rumbly night tonight and then, chance of showers, thunderstorms after 5AM. So why don't they just say chance of showers and thunderstorms tonight?
Said they used all of that verbiage. Oh, well, I'm reading this off the National Weather Service, seven day. Mostly cloudy, also with a with a low around 41. North wind around five becoming southeast after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
And tomorrow, chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers possibly a thunderstorm after 8AM. Yeah. We knew that from the overnight. Pioneer 54 southwest or southeast wind five to 10 miles per hour becoming southwest in the afternoon. Chance precipitation is 90%.
So looks like, today is a really good day again to move an airplane and, otherwise, it's gonna be rainy. We'll catch you tomorrow.
